As much as you would like, this isn't The Eagles we have all listened to for years. Without Don Felders singing, writing and guitar talents, this is a terrible attempt by Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Don Henley to sound good. This isn't The Eagles, just a few of the old,and I mean OLD, original members or the band trying to be The Eagles again. How Sad.
The rest is garbage. But, buy the record for the first disc. Disc one has some of the best Eagles music ever, and that is saying a lot. What an extreme difference between disc one and disc two. "I don't want to hear any more" is lovely with wonderful harmonies. I love it and listen to it a lot.Totally worth the money, even though for the money you also have to get disc two, which is just awful. I've listened to disc two a few times, the repeat listenings just to see if I was wrong the first time, and if there's anything there I may have missed. The final song "It's your world now" is the best of the lot, but only just OK, a lotlike Jackson Browne's "Linda Paloma". "Waiting in the Weeds" is the high point in my opinion, one of the best Eagles songs ever written. If you like the Eagles and don't have this yet, get it for disc one.
Perhaps more than any other single band in rock and roll history, even the Beatles, the Eagles have been through some very cataclysmic changes--not unlike the L.A. Finally in 2007, after twenty-eight years, they finally gave us LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN.And much like what had happened with Elvis in 1969, the Eagles each individually had so much they wanted to get out there in front of the public that LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN became a 2-CD, 90-minute epic. Souther in 1972, but only ever done onstage by the band up until this point. In the 70s, they were both a fans' favorite and a favorite whipping boy for the critics (especially those at Rolling Stone). And on the closing "It's Your World Now", the band not only pauses to pass on what they've learned to another generation, but, in its Mariachi-tinged arrangement, they seem to pay homage to Linda and her Mexican-American roots, given that they originally formed around the Arizona-born songstress in 1971.If indeed this 2-CD opus is the absolute final word on this group of Desperados, then it really has been a most interesting, albeit also turbulent, ride. In 1980, long-simmering dissensions exploded out and caused the group to dissolve (or so drummer and lead vocalist Don Henley thought, when he commented the only way the band would get back together would be "when Hell freezes over."). landscape that gave them their start and their inspiration. Everything the band and its individual members were known for is encompassed here, with Joe Walsh's laconic attitude taking flight on "Guilty Of The Crime" and "Last Good Time In Town"; bassist Timothy Schmit doing his thing on "I Don't Want To Hear Anymore" and "Do Something"; Glenn Frey's emotional heat dominating on "No More Cloudy Days" and "What Do I Do With My Heart."; and Henley's sociological force being kicked up a notch on the ten-and-a-half minute epic title track, and "Business As Usual." The band does go back into its distant past with "How Long", written by their close compatriot J.D.
In 1994-95, hell indeed did freeze over, and the Eagles got back together. But it still took an enormous amount of time before they released another collection of all-new material; and in that time, they canned longtime guitarist Don Felder, who had been with the band since 1974. Longtime session man Steuart Smith steps in for Felder on LONG ROAD; and the band's country-rock roots are also accentuated by the occasional pedal steel work of Greg Leisz, whose credits include, among others, the 1999 Linda Ronstadt/Emmylou Harris collaboration WESTERN WALL. Much like the Beatles and the Beach Boys, the Eagles are a band that has often been duplicated in musical style, but never matched in terms of emotional impact; and LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN may very well seal the deal for keeps now.
i think this album is good just should have cut down the 2 disks to 1.to many boring slow songs.the sound is pretty good for a cd and recorded well but just doesnt have that same sound to me.but all in all some great tunes and glad they made an album.i cant believe it sold 7 million copies so far.
I was happy to get a new copy of an album that was no longer available from the exclusive source (Walmart). This is a new item in an original case. Thank you.
